Personal training
We're not a North York gym. We're a private, appointment-only studio in Scarborough, and a good number of our clients drive in from Willowdale, Don Mills and York Mills. Here's the honest case for why.
Getting here
There are hundreds of gyms in North York and several very good trainers. If what you want is equipment access and a monthly membership, drive ten minutes and save yourself the trip — we'd tell you the same on the phone.
What we sell isn't a gym membership. It's a coach.
Every session is one-to-one, by appointment, in a private facility. Nobody's waiting for a machine, nobody is sharing your coach's attention, and no part of your hour depends on how busy the place happens to be.
We're at 21 Progress Ave, Unit 7, just off Highway 401 in Scarborough. From most of North York it's a single eastbound run — join the 401 at Yonge, Bayview, Leslie or the DVP and stay on it. From Willowdale or Bayview Village that's typically around half an hour outside peak; from Don Mills or Flemingdon Park it's shorter.
Progress Avenue is a business park rather than a retail strip, which means free on-site parking and no circling. The 401 eastbound in the afternoon is the better direction, which is why most North York clients book late morning or after 7pm.
A drive to an open-access gym is dead time plus a queue for the rack you wanted. A drive to a booked session isn't. You arrive, the programme is ready, the equipment is free, and you leave when the work is done.
Clients regularly tell us the thirty minutes ends up cheaper than the forty-five they used to lose to a busy gym ten minutes from home.
What you're driving for
If none of these matter to you, we'd genuinely rather you trained locally than paid us for a drive.
North York is full of gyms where "personal training" means whoever is rostered that evening. Here it's one coach who knows your history, your limitations and where you were last Tuesday.
Rare imported machines bought one at a time for their engineering, not as a package from a supplier. Several aren't in another gym in Canada — which is the part that's genuinely unavailable closer to home. See the collection.
Appointment-only means the floor is yours. Nothing occupied, nothing waited for. The session takes exactly as long as the work does, which is what makes the drive arithmetic work.

Questions
No. Hammer Fitness has one facility, at 21 Progress Ave, Unit 7 in Scarborough, just off the 401. A good number of our clients drive in from across North York, and we'd rather say that plainly than have you search for an address in Willowdale.
Around 30 minutes eastbound on Highway 401 from central North York outside peak hours, joining at Yonge, Bayview, Leslie or via the DVP. From Don Mills or Flemingdon Park it's shorter. There is free on-site parking.
Depends what you want. For equipment access, no — train locally. For private one-to-one coaching, a curated equipment floor and a session with no queues or sharing, most of our clients from that side of the city say yes. Book the free consultation and decide after you've seen it.
Sessions are by appointment rather than fixed to a class timetable. Most clients driving from North York book late morning or after 7pm, which keeps the 401 quick in both directions.
Yes, if the drive genuinely doesn't work. It's a different product — remote programming and check-ins rather than hands-on coaching — but it's a real option. Raise it on the call and we'll be straight about which suits you.
Programmes are built individually, so pricing depends on frequency and goal. The consultation is free with no obligation, and we've published the Toronto market ranges so you can compare before you call.
