Personal training
Most gyms would write you a page pretending the distance doesn't exist. Etobicoke to Scarborough is 35 to 45 minutes on the 401, each way, and in rush hour it's worse. That's a real commitment — so here's when it makes sense, when it doesn't, and what we'd suggest instead if it doesn't.
Start with the part other gyms leave out.
We're at 21 Progress Ave in Scarborough. From Islington or Kipling that's roughly 35 to 45 minutes on the 401 outside peak, and considerably longer during it. Twice a week, that's around three hours of driving. For most people in Etobicoke, that's too much — and we'd rather say so here than on the phone after you've filled in a form.
Be honest with yourself
If any of these describe you, train closer to home. Etobicoke has good gyms and good trainers.
The better option for most of Etobicoke
This is the honest recommendation for most people reading this page from the west end.
Online coaching with us means a full nutrition plan written with portion sizes for every food, a training programme built around the equipment you actually have access to, weekly check-ins reviewed by a coach rather than generated by an app, and direct access when something isn't working.
What you give up is the hands-on part — technique corrected in real time, and the machines. That's a genuine loss and we won't pretend otherwise.
What you gain is consistency, which beats a superior session you skip because you couldn't face the 401 on a Thursday. For most people that trade is clearly worth making.
Athletes prep with us remotely from across Canada and internationally. Etobicoke is not a hard case by comparison.
If you do make the drive
Knowing what to change when progress stalls is the actual product. If you've had trainers before and plateaued anyway, that's the gap you're driving across the city to close.
For a handful of clients the floor is the whole reason — rare imported machines, several not in another gym in Canada, assembled over more than a decade. See what's here.
If you're spending 90 minutes in the car, the hour in the middle has to earn it. Appointment-only, one client, nothing shared and nothing queued for.
The route is the 401 eastbound the whole way — join at Islington, Kipling or the 427 and stay on it to Markham Road. Free on-site parking at this end. What it costs.

Roughly 35 to 45 minutes on the 401 outside peak hours from Islington or Kipling, and longer during rush hour. It's about 35 km across the city. We'd rather you knew that before booking than after.
No. Hammer Fitness has one facility, at 21 Progress Ave, Unit 7 in Scarborough. For most people in Etobicoke, online coaching is the more sensible option and we'll say so on the call.
For most people, no — and we'd rather tell you that. It's worth it if you already commute east, if you're preparing for something specific over a defined block, or if you've genuinely exhausted local coaching options. For general fitness, train closer to home.

Some clients do — online coaching week to week with occasional in-person sessions for technique and programme resets. Raise it on the consultation and we'll build something that fits the travel you can realistically manage.
